"The Riptides"
were invited to do a location shoot for the
movie. The band drove out to a beach dune
north of Malibu in Mike Curb's Cadillac. A
movie cameraman and some of the band
equipment came along too. The band set up on
a sand dune and did some lip sync to the
movie title song. There were also some "Monkees"
style silliness shots.
"The Golden
Breed" song was sung by Phil Kasper. A
rather fast and difficult song to sing, the
same session techniques were used; i.e.,
studio backing instrumental and vocal
tracks. The album credits did not make any
mention of "The Riptides", Phil, or Bob.
Instead the credits were given to a band
that was made up and did not exist, more
Mike Curb shortcuts. The location shots did
not appear in the movie. |
